Enough About Reggie Bush

After listening to commentators again bash Houston on their selecting Mario Williams over Reggie Bush, I just have to shake my head. I'm getting a little ticked about it now. Some claim that this was the worst move in a draft in NFL history. Some compare it to Sam Bowie being picked over Michael Jordan. Some have said that it's like passing on Gale Sayers.

Okay, enough! Gale Sayers has 9,435 total net yards in the NFL and 336 points. He was Player of the Game in three Pro Bowls and is the all-time leader in kickoff returns.

What has Reggie Bush accomplished at the NFL level? Nothing! Nada! Zip! Zilch! He's not Gale Sayers! He hasn't played a single game in the NFL! He's not the Michael Jordan of the NFL. He's Reggie Bush, a very talented, multi-tool player that is as exciting as they get.

The criticism of Houston isn't fair to Mario Williams just as it isn't fair to Reggie Bush. Some people are saying that he basically can put the city of New Orleans on his back and revive it. Some are already comparing him to the great Gale Sayers and saying he's the Michael Jordan of football.

Bush hasn't played an NFL game, just as Mario Williams hasn't. Two days after the draft and people are already playing the role of Cleo and stating what they are or aren't going to do in the NFL. Let the guys play and prove themselves. Is Bush truly a Gale Sayers-type or Ki-Jana Carter? Is Mario Williams like a Reggie White or a Courtney Brown? Let's let time tell for us. Both are extremely talented young players. Neither have proven themselves more or less at the NFL level yet. Let the performances on the field speak for themselves!
