Bush Takes Swipe at Democrats

It's easy to take swipes at Democrats, just as it's easy to take swipes at Republicans. It goes both ways. I love how comedian Lewis Black puts it, "Republicans come up with all the ideas, but they're all bad ideas. Democrats don't come up with any ideas." While he may be exaggerating slightly, I still find it to be humorous, because for the most part, Republicans seem to be a much more outspoken group than Democrats and even if they're wrong about what they're speaking, they don't seem to be fearful of letting the world know about it. Democrats, on the other hand, seem to want to please everyone and I'm sorry to upset them, but that's just not possible. While Republicans aren't fearful of standing up for any issue, even if they're being idiotic about it, Democrats seem fearful to stand up for any issue. So, like I said, it's easy to take swipes at either party.

About two weeks ago, President Bush spoke in Clayton, Missouri and took a swipe at the Democratic party, one that I don't happen to agree with.

Bush said, "Make no mistake about it, there is a group in the opposition party who are willing to retreat before the mission is done. They are willing to wave the white flag of surrender and if they succeed the United States will be worse off, and the world will be worse off."

He also stated, "We've got a plan to succeed, a plan for victory, a plan that will enable a new ally in the war on terror to govern itself, sustain itself and defend itself."

I included that second quote, because I find it somewhat humorous that Bush is persistent in convincing the public of this "plan" he's got. If his approval ratings are around 35%, I wonder what percentage of Americans believe that Bush actually has a "plan" at all.

But, more importantly, Bush bashed the Democrats for wanting to either set a timetable or to withdraw the troops as soon as possible. He sees this as a long-lasting game and if his team pulls out now, the other team will win. Every study that I've looked at has indicated that we are losing the war on terrorism and every study that I've looked at has indicated that our country and the world is worse off now than it was before the so-called War on Terror started. If Bush's "mission" was to create more enemies, kill thousands and thousands of civilians, 2,500 U.S. soldiers, wound 8,500 others, make America the most feared and hated country in the world, increase terrorism prospects and terrorism in general, then he's succeeded in that mission. What that "mission" is in his mind anymore, I haven't a slightest idea. All I can say George is stop watching cartoons (Fox News), stop listening to Rush (Limbaugh, not the band), and tune in to factual studies, some even reported in the U.K., that may show you (even if someone has to s-p-e-l-l it out for him) that "staying the course" in the war on terror has done exactly what you claim retreating from this war will do.
