What Should Americans Really Fear?

With the amount of deaths we've endured from terrorism in the past 11 years (excluding 2006), 1995-2005, it'd seem that the Bush Administration should've declared war on an entity other than terrorism.

From the years 1995-2005, there have been 3,147 victims of terrorism. Meanwhile, there have been 3,949 deaths due to being shot by the police. The War on Law Enforcement? There have been 5,171 deaths via electrocution and 8,536 deaths by way of the accidental shooting of a gun. The War on Electricity? The War on Guns? Yeah, those gun control "nuts" aren't so nuts after all, are they? There have been over 19,000 deaths associated with the flu and 52,000 deaths while walking the street. There have been over 146,000 deaths from falling and over 254,000 deaths from driving off the road. The War on Walking? The War on Illnesses? The War on Falling? The War on Driving? There have been 85 times more deaths from driving one's vehicle than from being a victim of a terrorist act.

While terrorists may receive all the pub of being America's true enemy and the people we must protect ourselves from at all costs, there is a 1 in 80,000 chance that one will be a terrorist victim. Compare that to being a victim from electricity, an accidental shooting, the flu, walking, and driving, just to name a few. If one wants to point toward quantities of deaths. Who do we have to fear most? Our vehicles (and others), guns, our feet (and people's automobiles), our body's (illnesses), and electricity!

While Republicans continue to preach that they will better protect us from terrorists than the Democrats and that we must do everything in our power to stop these mad men, Democrats should preach about driving, guns, electricity, and walking! Yeah, it may sound silly at first, but after one looks at the numbers, they can't help but see that even though terrorists may receive all the pub time when it comes to being a danger to the country and its citizens, there are many more deadly forces at work here in the U.S.
