Can anyone take responsibility in the Foley case?
After Mark Foley was outed regarding his sexually explicit e-mails to underage pages, he immediately played the alcohol card. Then he made note that he'd been sexually abused by a priest as a child. "Yeah, I did this, but it wasn't my fault. You see, this happened to me." Then people who had known about the sexually explicit messages and even the drunken dorm night when Foley allegedly had sex with a page, no one is standing up and taking the responsibility. Boehner, Hastert, Fordham, amongst others are all saying, "Well, so and so is above me, so I just expected him to take care of it."
Now, one Anthony Mercierca, the priest whom Foley claims had sexually abused him. What'd Mercierca have to say?
"I have to confess, I was going through a nervous breakdown. I was taking pills -- tranquilizers. I used to take them all the time. They affected my mind a little bit."
Mercierca then asked the question in regard to Foley, "Why does he want to destroy me in my old age?"
Again, no responsibility. Many elders I know like to claim that my generation can't take responsibility and we always blame the parents. Look at this situation. Several aging males and they're all pointing the other way.
