"I am the greatest!"

No, I'm not quoting Muhammad Ali, well, not this time. I'm quoting someone I know personally. He thinks he's the greatest...at just about everything. He's the smartest. He's the sexiest. He's the hottest. He's the best. Notice a trend?

I am shocked and befuddled at the words that spit out of his mouth on a consistent basis. It doesn't matter if he was a waiter, a janitor, a teacher, a ball player, an actor, a lawyer, or a doctor, he'd spend a lot of his time after work, complaining about how nobody around him is as good as he is. "I'm the smartest one there. I'm smarter than all my bosses. I'm better than they are. They're just in the position they're in now because they've worked there longer than I have. They have no education and I do." When talking music, "I'm better than Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, etc. Hendrix was just crazy and doped on drugs. Van Halen is overrated. Clapton has gone soft. I'm better than all of them."

What, does he think he's impressing everyone with his seemingly arrogant attitude? Does this compel people to talk with him, to even be around him, knowing that he'll come across as feeling he's superior to them? It's not even a simple vibe. The words are all out into the open. There are no qualms about it. Once the people leave his presence, they don't need to analyze what he said for a couple hours, trying to decipher what he really meant through his words. No, the words were blatantly obvious in their tone and message.

Is he actually insecure and the only way he can feel good about himself is through speaking to others like he's a God? Is that it? He doesn't receive these compliments on a regular basis, so he has to compliment himself? Is he just excessively needy? Does he constantly need to be told that he is a God? "Yes, oh yes, you are a God and I worship the ground you walk on and every word that you speak!"

I spoke to this guy yesterday and he talked to me about a job he applied for. He claimed to be evesdropping on some people who were applying for a management position. What'd he say? "I'm smarter than all of them. I'm better than all of them. I could do their job twice as well as they can." Uh-huh, okie dokie.

I then talked about how a home repair guy is still working on the house and what did this guy have to say? "He's still working on that? I could have finished that in half the time and done a better job of it!" Regardless of the fact that this guy has never done such home repair in his life, he's convinced he could do a better job than a professional.

There are times when he's decent and fun, but then there are other times (which seem to outnumber the fun ones) where he's completely obnoxious and wants the world to think he's the creator, master of the universe (yes, he-man, basically). For his next birthday, which is coming up shortly, I should just buy him several mirrors and a few sex toys, so that he can do what he's always wanted to do, which is, himself.
