O'Reilly Faults Benoit's Wife

Bill O'Reilly has a habit of blaming victims. Whether it be the 11-year old kid who was kidnapped or in the latest case, former professional wrestler Chris Benoit's wife, after she and her child were killed by the ex-wrestler, who committed suicide following the murders.

O'Reilly had this to say following the reports of Benoit killing his wife, kid, and then himself, "In both of these terrible situations, the men involved were troubled and chaotic, and the women involved had to know that. Those ladies made big mistakes. They were obligated to protect their children. They did not protect them."

If Chris Benoit did indeed show signs that he was a troubled and violent individual, chances are that his wife stayed with him, in fear of what would transpire if she left. Unfortunately, Bill-O, that's fairly common for victims, because they constantly live in fear. It becomes a daily struggle to survive and unfortunately, people tend to grow more attached and dependent in abusive relationships. They may start to make excuses for the abuser, saying such things as, "Well, maybe I did deserve that. Perhaps I could've done what he/she said." If they contemplate leaving, they have to debate with themselves, what could potentially harm they and their child more, by staying with the abuser or leaving? If they left, is this person so disturbed, that they'd kidnap the child or stalk and perhaps kill either the mother, the child, or both? Regardless, it's ridiculous and idiotic for Bill-O to blame the mother for her husband killing she, their kid, and himself. What would Bill-O say if someone blamed the 3,000 9/11 victims, saying, "Well, they knew darn well of the terrorists past behavior. They should've protected themselves and those buildings and they didn't do that." Uh-huh. He'd have a fit if anyone said something so stupid. Perhaps he can understand why others are having such conniptions over his ignorant remarks.

O'Reilly seems to like blaming the victims, especially if they're of the female gender. Perhaps this is due to the charges he was involved with by the woman who claimed he sexually harassed her via the telephone. He probably blamed her, just as he blames these two mothers. Bill-O "Reilly" (yeah, I know, stretching it just a tad, but I couldn't resist) needs a shrink.
