Vick Takes PETA Course

It was just made known that Michael Vick accepted an invitation from PETA to take a course on preventing animal cruelty.

He attended an eight-hour session and then took a test regarding the information he was given in the course and passed it.

PETA assistant director Dan Shannon had this to say about the situation, "He seemed nervous at first, but he seemed really interested." Shannon also mentioned how impressed everyone was with Vick's seriousness in taking the class and test.

Michael Vick has a long way to go to regain any bit of credibility or reputation he had just a few months ago, it seemed. But, this is a start. It is possible that he mainly did it for some positive publicity. It's also possible that he meant what he said when coming forward about his guilty plea, in wanting to improve himself as a person. As usual, the answer probably lies somewhere between those two extremes. I do sincerely hope that he's taking these course and potential steps at improving himself on a personal level very seriously. While I'm sure he wants to play football again some day, his first priority should be getting his own self on track before he even thinks about playing ball again. Just as I hope everyone who has made mistakes before will do, I hope that Vick learns from his past slip-ups and becomes a better individual through that hopefully gained knowledge.
