An inappropriate comment on...gulp...the Golf Channel?
That's right. Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman said this during Friday's telecast, "Today's young players should lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley." She has since apologized for her comment.
Hmm... Okay, so I'm wondering, since this was the only quote in the article, what content surrounded this quote? What truly provoked her to say this? It's so ridiculously stupid, I have to believe there were some sane thoughts and logic rolling around in her noggin before and after these words streamed from her lips. I could be wrong and probably am, but what in Buddha's ukelele was she smoking? Of all the athletes an anchor could say such things about, Tiger Woods is the worst of the lot. He's arguably the greatest athlete in the world, is without a doubt, the greatest golfer in the world, and some claim that he may very well be the greatest golfer EVER. I know some people who can't stand Kobe Bryant, many who now can't stand Michael Vick. I know some who don't even like Roger Clemens. I don't know too many people that make such claims about Tiger Woods. The only reason anyone would do that is they're a bit sick of seeing him win tournaments. He's personable, intelligent, he and his wife don't make a bad looking couple (a bit of sarcasm right there...), and like I said, he is without question the greatest golfer of our time and possibly to have ever played the sport. If Don Imus gets suspended for calling a few Rutgers basketball players "raggedy hoes," I don't know how Ms. Tilghman can get away from saying that young golfers should "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley." Neither comment is politically correct, but in my opinion, Tilghman's is worse, because it reaches behind ignorant prejudicial remarks and recommends acts of hatred and violence against an individual. Perhaps more Golf Channel anchors should do like on-the-green announcers and whisper their commentary to the American people...
