Final Four Weekend

Three yawners. The tournament was great until the Final Four, right when things are supposed to get good. The best game of the three? Florida's 73-58 win over George Mason. It was 31-26 at halftime and GMU fought until the very end, trailing only by 9 at the midway point of the second half. Yeah, that was the best of the three. UCLA hammered LSU 59-45 and it wasn't even that close. With six minutes left, UCLA had 57 points and were up by over 20. They put it into cruise control the rest of the game and LSU made the score appear closer than it actually was. Then, tonight's game, that national championship contest between Florida and UCLA. It's got to be better than the other two, right? Wrong! While, it was perhaps slightly better than the UCLA/LSU matchup; it didn't quite match the Florida/George Mason game. Florida pounded the Bruins 73-57. The first four rounds were arguably the best opening four rounds I've seen in an NCAA Tournament, but the last two rounds were arguably the worst final two rounds that I've witnessed in the Big Dance.

Fortunately, the day college hoops ended is the day pro baseball began, so, that'll keep me interested (enough) until football season rolls around again.

Congrats to head coach Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators for a superb run in the tournament. They played better than anyone in the field of 65 and deserved the title.
