The War On What???
What is it with our obsession of war? There's the war on drugs, war on sex, war on marriage, war on terror, war on education, war on equality, war on freedoms, war on privacy, war on Christmas, war in Afghanistan, war in Iraq, pending war in Syria, pending war in Iran, pending war in North Korea, war on social security, the corporate wars, the political wars. How many simultaneous wars can we fight? How many wars can we fight on entities that cannot be completely beaten and destroyed?
Take the war on drugs, for example. No matter how many people we arrest for possessing, taking, or selling illegal substances, there will always be more drugs for people to have, consume, and distribute. With these crimes come ridiculously heavy penalties, for some. Some people who possessed marijuana have had harsher penalties than those convicted of murder. Give me a break. Seriously, would you be more comfortable with a known-murderer walking the streets or a guy who just got high off a couple doobies? Who would you like having around more, Charles Manson or Cheech and Chong? The war on drugs has cost billions of dollars and no positive results are being shown, so give it up already. Declaring a war on drugs would be like me declaring a war on water. You just can't do it. There will always be water to get somewhere from someone. Same with drugs.
How about the war on terror? Same sort of thing as with the drugs. No matter how arrogant we are and no matter how tough we may think we are, there is no way to completely destroy terrorism. I wish there was a way, but let's not be naive' here. Name me one time in history where there wasn't some kind of violence, terrorism, or war going on? Think long and hard now. I'll even give you a few minutes. Thought of one yet? That's because there was no time in history like this! Also, I find it very ironic that we feel we can defeat terrorism through acts of war and violence. How does that work? What, if I bump into a bully at school and punch him in the face because I heard he had beat people up in school, do you really think that's going to lessen his anger and make him think twice before beating someone else up? No. If I haven't knocked him out with the punch, then he's going to come right after me and probably throw me in a trash can. Also, there are usually followers to this leader, so I better watch my back the rest of the school year, because I'll never know if one of them will knock me upside the head. So, yeah, it makes sense. Let's go and kill a hundred-thousand Iraqis, including innocent women and children civilians, and wah-lah, that will end all terrorism there. Not so fast. For every person we kill over there, we will anger people they're connected with and will make three to four new enemies for every person's death we're responsible for over there. It'd be like me trying to defeat anorexia by starving myself. Sorry, not going to work.
So, what's the next war that will cost tax payers, won't make any sense, and could never be won? I already brought up the war on water. How about the war on oxygen? Or, best yet, the war on war? Because, no matter what time in history one is talking about, there is something warlike going on at that point. Not having some war or impending war to talk about and discuss is like not eating breakfast in the morning. I wish and dream that there could be a successful war on war. That, one day, we could all lay down our arms, shake hands, and head to our own lands in a peaceful manner. But, who am I kidding? That can't happen. Gandhi and King fought the war on war, but for only one country, and ironically enough, they were both assassinated. So, okay, no war on war. How about no more wars, period? Let's stop it with these wars only good as scare tactics and for political purposes. Yeah, the war on drugs and war on terror really means the politicians are looking out for the citizens. Yeah, and my name is Yogurt. If we really wanted to have an all-out war on drugs, we could, but drugs are very profitable items, especially in some parts of the world, so that's not going to happen. We could really have a war on terror, but that would destroy the hierarchical structure we currently have in place in the world. How about we just learn how to take care of problems domestically first before we rub our noses in other people's business? Is that such a tough concept? Wouldn't you be a little aggravated if your next door neighbor, whom you hardly know, walked into your house to try and solve all your problems? Wouldn't you just want to tell them to go home and mind their own business? I know that's how I would feel. Let's cut it out with the arrogance, stop making more and more enemies on a daily basis, and take care of the people at home, because the people here deserve that, just as they deserve that around the world in the countries they reside.

The thing with the "Wars" is that it helps develop a huge sense of fear. Fear leads to anger, and anger helps pass laws that reflect our ideology instead of our real behavior.
