Rasheed Wallace Eats Words

Not literally. What do words taste like, anyway? Well, last night in Wallace's world, probably not very good.

Detroit Pistons' starting forward Rasheed Wallace guaranteed a Game 4 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East Semifinals yesterday. While Wallace did get hurt early in the game and was hobbling most of his time on the court, Cleveland won to tie the series at 2-2.

I have nothing against Wallace or the Detroit Pistons, but it's nice to see a guy have to eat his own words sometimes. This isn't the first time that Rasheed has guaranteed a playoff victory. In fact, the Pistons were rather successful in his three previous playoff guarantees, but not this time. When a player guarantees time and again that he's going to do something or that the team is going to win, then I get a little sick of it. If someone pulls a Joe Namath out of their hat and guarantees a Super Bowl win, then that's when I'm rooting for the guy to pull through. There aren't three mulligans that you receive in football. There's one game and a player can put up or shut up after sixty minutes on the field.

Good luck to Rasheed and the Pistons the rest of the way, but no more guarantees, unless it's a Game 7 of the series!
