The Beast Speaks On 6/6/06 (Ann Coulter)

Extreme right-wing author, loon, and commentator Ann Coulter spoke with Matt Lauer on The Today Show. Because families of 9/11 victims have spoken out in favor of an independent investigation on the attacks, Coulter spoke out on the victims' families (widows, in particular). Here's what she had to say:

"These self-obsessed women seem genuinely unaware that 9-11 was an attack on our nation and acted like as if the terrorist attack only happened to them. They believe the entire country was required to marinate in their exquisite personal agony. Apparently, denouncing Bush was part of the closure process."

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by griefparrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much."

"To speak out using the fact they are widows. This is the left's doctrine of infallibility. If they have a point to make about the 9-11 commission, about how to fight the war on terrorism, how about sending in somebody we are allowed to respond to? No. No. No. We always have to respond to someone who just had a family member die."

Wow. That's the first word that comes to mind after reading these statements. How ignorant, loony, naive, and psychotic is this woman? How dare she come after the widows of the victims. The money they received due to their losses will never equate to what they lost that day. If the money was more than sufficient, why in the world would they want to continue asking questions and finding answers surrounding 9/11? How in the world can she say that these women are enjoying their husbands' death? If a woman's husband is brutally murdered, does it truly show that she enjoyed his killing by her investigating and seeking thorough investigation of the case until all her questions are answered? That was one of the most cruel and insensitive comments I've read or heard!

Regardless of how one wants to look at the 9/11 attacks, no one felt it more than the families of the victims. We can claim it was an attack against our country, against New York City, against our culture, against our freedom, but nobody felt that attack like the families who were directly affected. Most of us were fortunate enough to only have witnessed the event on television and not to have felt it through the loss of a loved one. I can rant all I want to about how I disagree with the War in Iraq and how it's negatively affecting our country, but the families of the soldiers who have been killed are going to feel it in a manner that I and many others can't. Would Coulter go after families of war victims if they spoke out against the war? Would she claim that they were "enjoying" the death of their son or daughter? While the world didn't come to an end yesterday, as some extremists predicted, The Beast spoke and made her presence felt, in one Ann Coulter.
