Andrew Young's Comments

Just as I briefly blogged about Mel Gibson's drunken comments, I will blog about Andrew Young's sober ones.

For those who don't know, Andrew Young is an African-American civil rights leader who, before recently resigning, worked at Wal-Mart to help improve its image.

What prompted the resigning was a response to a question concerning Wal-Mart and if Young is concerned that it causes smaller "mom-and-pop" stores to close.

Young responded, "Well, I think they should; they ran the 'mom and pop' stores out of my neighborhood. But you see, those are the people who have been overcharging us, selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. And they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they've ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs; very few black people own these stores."

I must say, that's quite the answer coming from someone who is a "civil rights" leader.
